Wet Weather Delays Harvest for Missouri Crop

According to the Missouri Crop Progress and Condition report, fall harvest was delayed again by heavy rainfall in October. Throughout the state, temperatures averaged around 58.2 degrees and rainfall averaged 2.24 inches. As a result of these conditions, there were only 2.8 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending on October 12th.  So far only 16% of Missouri soybeans have been harvested, along with 82% of soybeans dropping their leaves, and 94% have turned color. These percentages are a slight improvement from last week’s percentages, however it is not entirely clear how harvest will progress in the next few weeks. Only the weather will be able to determine how the rest of this year’s harvest will continue.
