NCSB Director Speaks at Plant Genomics Congress USA

Dr. Henry Nguyen, director of the National Center for Soybean Biotechnology (NCSB), gave an invited talk entitled “US Large Scale Soybean Germplasm Re-sequencing Project, Results and Implications,” at the Plant Genomics Congress USA.

The Plant Genomics Congress USA was held on September 23-24, 2013, in St. Louis, Missouri, and is a part of a series on next generation sequencing by Global Engage. It is a sister program to the Plant Genomics Congress, which was held on May 13-14, 2014, in London, UK, and an Asian Congress to be held next February.

Conference attendees included researchers, some with NGS experience and others not, who learned more how to apply NGS to their research. The conference included a showcase of technologies, case study presentations and an interactive question and answer panel.

Also speaking from the University of Missouri was Dr. Chris Pires, an associate professor of the Division of Biological Sciences. His invited talk was entitled, “Whole Genome Duplications Spurred Co-Evolutionary Arms Race: Novel Mustard Compounds are the Spice of Success.”

The 2nd Plant Genomics Congress USA will be held October 9-10, 2014, in St. Louis, Missouri.
